For most green industry companies, winter is a little time for R&R.
Barrett Chow, who leads recruiting at McFarlin Stanford, challenged that habit in our latest ACE Team Development session.. by. The question for the managers and leaders: what if winter is the most valuable stretch of your year, if you use it with purpose?
The session centered on three ideas:
- How do you develop your people before you need more from them?
- How do you make the decisions the busy season won’t let you make?
- How do you fix the friction that keeps costing you before the volume comes back?
“Busy season is excellent at creating urgency,” Barrett told the group. “It’s terrible at creating strategic thinking.”
The takeaway wasn’t a longer to-do list. It was a smaller one: a few intentional investments, on the calendar, with an owner for each. Winter won’t wait for a wish list.
Built for the Whole Team
Education for your whole team is why ACE Team Development exists. The people who feel the cost of a messy handoff or a thin bench are the leaders running the day-to-day. They need the same support the owner is working from in their Peer Group. ACE Team Development is a benefit of the ACE Peer Group program and is available to the member company’s entire team. Teams can watch the sessions live, or they can watch recordings of any prior session.
